SUMMARY:FIRST FRIDAY: Marko Fields & Kathleen Shanahan
DESCRIPTION:Join us for First Friday\, October 7th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm! \n—\nExhibitions Featured:\n“More Confessions of an Old Smarty Pants and Other Stories” by Marko Fields\n&\n“Sentimental Journeys and Haunted Reveries” by Kathleen Shanahan \n—\nThis exhibition will be feature intricate ceramics works with themes of humor\, irreverence\, animation and anthropomorphism by Marko Fields.\nFeatured in the same showroom\, will be mixed media artworks that focus on flux\, life cycle and nature\, as well as the creative impulse by Kathleen Shanahan. \n—\n“My images are hybrids – pastiched images which hint at a narrative. I use disparate elements\, drawn from a variety of sources: familiar and foreign\, old and new\, ceremonial and utilitarian\, etc. Media-wise\, I work usually in a mixed media mode\, making use of gritty relationships possible through contrasting materials and styles.” – Kathleen Shanahan \n—\n“…I believe that art making and the appreciation of art are profoundly important activities. As our society becomes increasingly inundated with technology\, I believe that the beautiful handmade object will gain in value-intrinsic and economic-and importance. As life becomes more complex\, art will continue to serve as an essential\, visceral and therapeutic connection to the wonder of our humanity.” – Marko Fields \n—\nMarko Fields & Kathleen Shanahan | Exhibitions run October 7th through October 29th \nThis show is in conjunction with our WICHITA NATIONAL CERAMIC INVITATIONAL\, partnered with Empty Bowls to fundraise for the Kansas Food Bank! \n— \n(Note: we have designated parking behind RSG that are marked with signs.
