Tina Thomas

Tina Thomas is a ceramic artist and high school art teacher based in Wichita, Kansas, where she shares a creative and fulfilling life with her supportive partner. Her work is deeply inspired by her connection to nature, meaningful relationships, and a sense of playful whimsy.

Tina’s artistic journey began in her childhood during family camping trips, where experiences like stargazing, rock hunting, clay excavation, and exploring waterways nurtured her appreciation for the natural world. Encouraged by her mother and grandmother, who fostered her creative spirit, Tina’s love for art flourished early on.

As a mother of three, Tina infused creativity into her family’s daily life through hands-on art activities, from crafting Christmas ornaments to photography, drawing, and working with clay. These moments not only enriched her children’s lives but also shaped Tina’s artistic perspective, reflecting both the challenges and joys of motherhood.

At the age of 40, Tina returned to formal education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wichita State University. This milestone launched her career as an art educator, teaching in public schools and leading community art classes at local recreation centers. As her children grew and pursued their own paths, Tina embraced the next chapter of her artistic evolution by enrolling in the Master of Fine Arts program at Fort Hays State University. She is on track to complete her degree in late 2025 or early 2026, with a vision of deepening her practice and contributing to Wichita’s dynamic art community and beyond.

Through her art and teaching, Tina celebrates the beauty of nature, the transformative power of creativity, and the profound impact of life’s most meaningful relationships.
