Jason Cytacki
Jason Cytacki is an Associate Professor of Painting at the University of Oklahoma. He earned his MFA from the University of Notre Dame in 2011 and now lives and works in Norman, Oklahoma. Through his paintings, Jason subverts iconic American mythological images questioning the underlying narratives that shape our shared identity. Themes of cultural memory, authenticity, and nostalgia drive these investigations, with a theatrical sensibility that acknowledges their own fabrication and questions the authenticity of the narratives they present.
Jason’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. He has received a numerous grants and fellowships to support his research, including the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s Artist Fellowship in 2021, a Presidential International Travel Fellowship in 2015, and a Junior Faculty Fellowship from the University of Oklahoma in 2012. His work is represented in a number of permanent collections, including the Rockwell Museum in Corning, NY, and the Old Jail Art Center in Albany, Texas.
