Robert Sudlow (1920 – 2010) was born in Holton, Kansas and grew up loving the Kansas and Midwestern landscape. He studied painting the University of Kansas under Albert Bloch receiving his bachelors in 1942. Sudlow was appointed associate professor at the University of Kansas in 1962 becoming a full professor in 1971. He continued to teach and paint at KU until his retirement in 1987. Although a gifted in both watercolor and lithography, his primary medium was oil painting.
