Peter Hurd

(1904-1984)     Born in New Mexico, Peter Hurd was known as a regionalist painter of western landscape, genre and portraits. His love for art steered him from military school to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, during which time he also took private lessons from illustrator N.C. Wyeth. Although his preferred medium was tempera on gesso panel he also did many lithographs, murals, and watercolors.  He was a member of the Prairie Print Makers.
