Lloyd Tabing is an abstract expressionist from the United States, now living and working in Jönköping, Sweden. Born and raised in Wichita, Tabing received his masters degree in environmental and urban planning from the University of Utah.
Tabing’s work reflects his relationship with the environment and the natural world:
“I spend a lot of that time in the country admiring the scenery and the change of the seasons. When I’m on my rides or when hiking or skiing in the forest I try to look nature abstractly. I try to strip things down to their minimum and look for what it is that made me notice that one place more than another. That is what I keep in mind when I paint. I do not start with any preconceived idea but instead react to what’s happening on the canvas. I do have a “method” or technique when I start but from there I really never know what’s going to happen.”
