John Helm

(1900-1972)    John Helm was born in Syracuse, NY but joined the faculty at Kansas State University in 1924.  He was instrumental in developing the visual arts culture in Manhattan in the years 1930 -1960. A gifted painter his work was primarily in the media of intaglio (drypoint, aquatint and etching) and wood engraving and his love of the Kansas Flint Hills was embodied in his work.  He was a member of the Prairie Print Makers.
