German-American (1937- ) Hans was trained in interior decorative arts in his native former East Germany before immigrating to America when he was 27. He received his Master of Fine Arts from University of Hartford, Connecticut, and was actively involved in the New York abstract art scene. Hans spent over a decade teaching — with a brief period at Wichita State University – before moving to Oregon to paint full time. His paintings have progressed from abstract to much more representational. He is known for his process oriented landscapes using unconventional tools and mixed media.
