Debi Cox creates ceramics that are both functional and sculptural. She grew up in South Central Kansas and studied at Friends University with a BS in Art Education, Wichita State University with a MS in Art Education and Fort Hays State University. She has recently completed a MFA in Ceramics Spring 2015. For over 30 years Cox has focused on creating clay work from nature. The ordered symmetry and asymmetry of nature’s forms reveal dual nature of loss, growth renewal – life. She has a deep respect for design and is inspired by the beauty that nature provides. Creating clay sculpture acts as a catalyst for connection through her tea sets, pitchers, altars and other clay forms.
